Hidden Talents

I always wanted to have a hidden talent, so this year i’m challenging myself to acquire a few new skills. Some of these are quite juvenile while others will require more time and effort. So let’s get right into it.

  • Learn how to knit: My mom used to knit all kinds for things when I was a little kid and I thought it would be cool idea of I took up the hobby as well. Now I don’t want to become some sort of knitting expert, but I will awfully proud if I can make a half decent scarf but the end of the year (yes, I’m giving myself the whole year to make a scarf).
  • Learn Photoshop/InDesing/ Illustrator: In school I am taking Speech Communication and English, but I’ve always thought that it would be a great asset to be able to use technical programs along with my non-technical skills. I have never been too computer savy, and I can already tell that this endeavor will be difficult for me to commit to. However, I do feel that it would be a major plus for my career if I had this skills under my belt.
  • Learn how to juggle: This is quite random. It would be pretty cook if I whipped this trick out at a party once in a while, no?
  • Learn to cook: If you have read some of my other posts you would know that I go to school in Waterloo and live away from home. It is my third year of school and I still don’t cook very often. Living on my own should be reason enough for me to learn how to cook but I guess that wasn’t enough of a push. It isn’t just about cooking; its about planning what to buy at the grocery store, preparing the ingredients, actually cooking and cleaning. But the end of the year I would love to cook a meal for some special people!

One thing that all of these things have in common is the fact that they require patience. In addition, to (hopefully) acquiring these skills I hope to be a more patient, committed, person by the end of the year.
